Earl and Joyce Price Support EKU’s Future with Bequest and Scholarship

Earl and Joyce Price

Eastern Kentucky University gave Earl and Joyce Price a foundation for rewarding careers. In return, they have established a bequest through their living trust and a permanent scholarship to help EKU students enjoy the same life-changing opportunities they received.

Joyce earned her EKU degree in nutrition and dietetics, launching a 50-year career that included nearly three decades as director of clinical nutrition at Duke University Hospital. She and Earl have designated their scholarship to support students studying dietetics. “With the anticipated shortage of dietetic professionals, we want our gift to be a positive resource to address that demand,” said Joyce.

Earl spent 30 years in development at Duke University, where he saw firsthand how important planned gifts are to the success of educational institutions. With their bequest, he and Joyce are helping to ensure a strong future for EKU.

Natives of Eastern Kentucky, Earl and Joyce say they remember the difficulty of buying books and affording tuition and associated costs for college. That is why they have chosen to ease the financial burden of a college education for future scholars.

Earl and Joyce urge their fellow alumni to join them in making a planned gift. “We encourage alumni and friends to think about your EKU experience and how you can give back to support others who follow you. By establishing an estate gift to EKU, you can be a positive impact in the transformational experiences of students for years to come.”
